Should have gone to Specsavers

Yes all that time I really should have gone to Specsavers.

When we first came to Derby in 1980, My mum opted for the Co op Opticians in the Albion centre as our personal opticians. It was a little family run shop and they were really nice. Each time you went back they remembered you and talked to you like friends of the family.
As I grew older and started to make my own appointments and buy my own glasses, I carried on going there because they knew me and because when I ordered new specs I could pay in installments and collect them when I had paid the full balance.

I don't remember when it was but I went in one day and it was no longer the Co op and it had changed to Optical Express. There was no notification to customers or anything. I had to re register as a new customer. I should have left and gone else-where then but I kept on with them even though they no longer let me pay in installments, I had to pay up front. Luckily though as I get NHS vouchers, I don't pay too much and often try to get pairs that I don't pay anything to.

So when I went to make an appointment at Optical Express this last time I found they had closed down, No word to customers or anything so I thought SOD YOU! I will go somewhere else and I chose Specsavers.

I went in 2 weeks ago for an eye test and they do loads that I didn't get at Optical Express. There were 4 little tests first and then I went in to see the optician. The best thing was they didn't use those stupid goggle things on your eyes, it is all automated in one little machine. Why didn't I do this ages ago? I was even offered a drink while I was waiting.

The 2 weeks waiting for my specs went by really quickly and I went back yesterday to get them. This time as my prescription has advanced I was awarded enough to enable me to get a second pair for free. I opted for a pair of prescription sunglasses. I have never been able to wear sunglasses. I tried those clip on ones years ago but they were uncomfortable and dorky.

So here they are...
