United 93

I remember when this movie was made and feeling apprehensive about making an opinion about it. There was a lot of publicity and it seemed that the only bad comments about it at the time it was released were made by those not involved in the terror itself. Family and friends of those who died on UA93 wanted the story to be told.

The movie is about the 9/11 attacks but more specifically about United 93. The plane where the passengers fought back and even though they all lost their lives, it wasn't in vain.

The whole journey through the movie was emotionally harrowing. I knew it would be but I felt compelled to get to the end. It was really well filmed as it was almost like watching a fly on the wall documentary. This made it all the more real and horrifying.
In the 80s/90s, movies about plane hi-jacks were 10-a-penny and you kind of became immune to them but just watching this knowing it was real and that although a lot of it would have been guesswork, those calls home by the passengers as it was unfolding around them were real and nothing was left out.

By the end of the movie I was seriously holding back the tears. My mouth was dry and I was frozen to my seat.
The realisation that everybody on that plane died that day brought back the shear horror of the whole days events.

What really made me extremely angry was the whole way the day was dealt with by the authorities and the military. They just ran around like headless chickens and more or less stood and watched as hundreds of people were killed.
