Friends of Nottingham

I know it is a while since I blogged properly. It took me a while to write that holiday blog but hopefully normal service can be resumed now...

Thursday was my long anticipated latest trip up the A52 to see Brian and find sanctuary on the 19th floor.
I hopped on the bus at about 1ish (After having to go sign on for the first time YUCK!)
I got to use the great wifi on the Red arrow bus. It was very fast and I managed to catch up on my twitter feeds on the 30 minute journey.

When I arrived at chez Brian it was as peaceful and tranquil as ever. He has had trouble doing his blog as of late and I think if he re-launched as "Tales from the 19th floor" he would be re-inspired.

We had coffee and chatted.
Brian recently bought a set of Tarot cards and urged me to have a reading done. I was a little bit apprehensive. Years ago I used to read the tarot myself. I used to do regular readings for people including myself but it went sour because I became to reliant on them. In fact it got to the point where I couldn't leave the house without consulting the cards so wisely I removed them from my home and haven't touched the Tarot since.
However, It was too tempting and I let him do a 3 card reading for me - Past Present and Future.

Well it did bring up some things for my to ponder. In fact it has given me a kick up the bum slightly.

Brian also offered me a rune reading and quite spookily it almost told me the same message as the cards so there has to be some truth in it.

At around 4ish Brian's friend Helen arrived. She is a healer and had been running a session at the library so when she finished she popped over for tea.
I love Helen as she is just such a nice and down to earth person. I have met her a couple of times before and both times just got on with her straight away and really clicked. I see her as quite an inspiration and someone to aspire to.
We chatted while Bri was preparing dinner and we must have covered lots of different subjects.
Brian said that he had read my cards and Helen said she wanted a reading so I did it for her while Bri was in the kitchen. We did have a laugh as she found it all very close to the truth.

We chatted all through dinner. I must admit it is lovely to meet someone else who really understands me.

Helen had brought dessert of cheesecake and fruit which Brian served up with cream and it was delicious. All washed down with a nice cold glass of wine.

Later Helen's hubby Nigel arrived and Brian was in the kitchen again to prepare tea for him Pizza, Wedges and salad (As we had)
It wasn't long before Tim also arrived and there was much more chat and tarot readings.
It is funny what you talk about and we covered the most randomest of subjects from Cancer and death to mad car enthusiasts and furnishing Tim's new home.

Time just flew and before we knew it, it was almost 11pm. They all said their goodbyes and Brian and I sat down with a coffee to catch up with Hell's Kitchen. I didn't actually realise at this time that it was on every night so I hadn't seen the previous episode yet but It didn't matter so much.

It was very late when we got to bed compared to when I usually stay. I think I prefer to stay in the middle of a holiday rather than at the end of a week when Brian is so tired from working all week.

Unfortunately I didn't sleep too well. This was mainly because my back was giving me a problem and I just couldn't get comfortable. Whatever position I got into I was just in pain. I finally got up about 8ish and lay on the sofa playing on my PSP (until it died.)

When Brian got up he gave me his last Hot cross bun for breakfast but there was no hanging about as his mate Larry called and was coming to pick us up to go out for a walk along the river.

We walked along the river Trent. I noticed we weren't too far away from Notts F****t Ground (Or as we call it the Shitty ground) I took a photo of it to show that I had been there.

Part of the trip was a photographic expedition so here is what I shot.

We took a walk over the road and into the ornamental gardens.

It was beautiful in there. It would be the perfect place for a romantic walk with the one you love a gorgeous setting.

I could have gone on and on but I could sense that the boys were getting bored and then my batteries died so we got back in the car and went back to Larry's place.
Larry made us a cocktail of Black Vodka and Fanta Orange. It was very Green but after a few mouthfuls it was quite nice.

After drinkies we set off for the walk back into town. Brian said it was all uphill and I would need my inhaler GULP! as it was, it wasn't that bad. Yes it was mostly on an incline but I made it without collapsing and although I was very red faced when we arrived back at the Vic centre, It had been very invigorating. I need to do that more often.

We said our goodbyes and Brian and me went back to his place. He cooked Turkey steaks, New potatoes and veg for lunch then we settled down to watch "Bring back Fame" with JLC that Brian had saved on his BT box for me to see as I had missed it. (Downloaded it now to keep.)

It was a great show, very enjoyable and made me feel very nostalgic for the early 80s. I wish they would bring the TV show back somewhere...

Soon enough it was time for me to go home...Listened to Lily Allen on the bus.

Stumble UponStumble it!
