A weekend in Scarborough

This weekend was meant a little birthday treat for my daughter Bill who will be 18 this week.

We set off Friday morning Changed trains at York and landed in Scarborough at 3.30pm. We hopped in a cab and were soon at our Hotel - The Derwent House Hotel on Rutland Terrace.

Our first impression - we were gobsmacked by the fantastic views.

We were greeted by Carole who is the owner with her husband Keith. She was very welcoming and polite. She showed us to our rooms which were on the 2nd floor. The stairs were quite steep but not really that far - I am just grateful we weren't on any higher floors as there were no lifts.

In the evening we walked into town and down to the sea-front. We were only about a 15 minute walk when we finally found our way. Good old Google maps again.

The weather was beautiful, It was aclear sunny warm evening perfect for taking glorious photos of the gorgeous Scarborough scenery.

We had Fish and Chips from the Fish Pan and then Bret had Bubblegum flavoured Ice cream and we even had some freshly made donuts, although, They were 4 for £2 that is 100% inflation on the last time we went to the seaside. I remember only a couple of years ago you could get them 6 for £1.50. We spent a few quid in the amusement arcades and wandered around the shops and we sat outside the quaint olde worlde pub The King Richard and I had a pint whiole the kids had a J20.

Everything was closing up at about 9.30pm so we made our way back to the hotel stopping on the way to buy Hot Chocolate and Marshmallows.

Back at the Hotel I was in room 6 which was called the Snainton room and the kids were in room 5 The Scalby room.

END OF PART ONE
