Brand new camera

Yes after the last couple of years wanting a really good digital camera, I have finally bought one. I used my Christmas money and got this from the the fuji official website.

I know it is a bit more bulky than your average pocket digital camera but if you want good quality pics then you have to go for something a bit more substantial. It certainly isn't heavy that's for sure.

Of course I couldn't wait to start trying it out and took a few test shots of the cats and the Christmas tree...

I am going to try and get out and about later to get some outdoor shots of the locality and try the different settings etc... Oh and of course I need to test out the video function.

I will be able to take it to Ange's party on Saturday and take lots of good shots.

More kitten pictures

I thought you would like to see how they are doing.
The answer is fine :)

They are becoming cheeky little buggers and feeding time is like a military operation. The kittens want to eat Pica's food and Pica wants to eat the kittens food. Problem is the big cat food is way to rich for their little stomachs at the moment and little Ronno proved that when he sicked up his whole body weight in vomit this morning on the hall carpet.

This is Miney

And this is Ronno

As you can see, they don't like it when Bill gets the laptop out...

Meet Sabrina

This is our new addition to the family.

Her name is Sabrina and she is a gorgeous cuddly black cat. She loves fuss and will lean into your hand and let you scratch under her chin. She doesn't like her back being stroked much or her tail.

She is still growling and hissing at Pica but not as much so she is becoming more relaxed around him. She has found the litter box and will now eat while Pica is in the same room although growling all the time.
Sabrina still prefers the security of behind the sofa but she is spending more and more time on the window sill.

I am thinking of writing a blog for her all about her life with us.

Random day

First of all when I got up this morning there was this gorgeous rainbow going over the house.

Course was fine today too. I just wanted to get my head down and work hard and that is what I did. Despite others who have no motivation whatsoever, I have just 1 more unit to complete and my level 1 id done - barr the exam of course but then I can concentrate on work placement and revising the work I have done (Maybe letting it actually sink in my brain)

At lunch time I spent so much time running round trying to find a Dance mat game for the PS2 that I only had 15 minutes to get food before getting back. I got myself a sausage roll on the way back to the centre but i didn't have time for a drink so grabbed a beaker of water from the cooler to take into class with me.

As usual the afternoon went really quick and it was soon time to go home. I had some shopping to pick up but had to be quick as special event happening tonight.
On my way home I got a call from the bloke who brought me the dancemats...He saw my wanted for a small bookcase and wondered if I had been successful, I told him I hadn't yet and he said he had one and that he would bring it round.

When I got home DS was home and the electric had gone. I dumped my shopping and went to the shop. When I got back the bookcase had already been delivered. It is a dinky little thing with glass doors but perfect for my DVD collection. Now I just have to put on Freecycle my old table and DVD racks in a kind of Pay it forward.

New member of the family...

Her name is Sabrina and she is a completely black cat. She was once the office mascot of a cab company but they merged with another company and moved offices. Unfortunately they couldn't take her with them so had to find a new home for her.
This afternoon one of the cab drivers came over to pick me up with my catbox to go pick her up and bring her to her new home with us.

Things were a bit tentative when we first opened the box door back at home. Pica became this big fur ball as all his hair stood on end. He didn't do anything else - just went and sat on the window his hair all still on end.

As predicted Sabrina found sanctuary behind the sofa and that is probably where she will spend a lot of her time.
Later on in the evening she hid under DS' bed. This was great for him until Pica decided he wanted to be there too and there was a lot of growling going on.
I fetched her out and she is now sat on the window sill. I think she is trying to work out how to get outside but this is all normal, just like when we first moved here with Pica & Ashar.

I am going to bed soon, lets see what kind of night we have.

Disgruntled Cat

Our cat Pica has fallen out with me. I finally got around to buying him a collar today and he is not happy.

It is a reflective flea collar and I am going to get him a ID tag for it too but as you see he is definitely giving me the cold shoulder

Cats need toilets too

Tuesday I picked up a little late Christmas present for Pica.
It was this monstrsoity called a cat toilet.

I am sick of all the mess and smells that come with the litter box that I needed to find a better solution. I am not sure that he quite knows what to think so far but we will see...he can't hold it in forever...

While I was in the Pet store I couldn't quite believe my eyes when I saw that they actually do a kit to teach your cat to use the human toilet - HERE - I don't think I could ever get Pica to do that.

Ashar Update

Well I couldn't sleep for worrying about Ashar. I posted on loads of groups asking for advice and there was a lot of great advice coming back at me. So much so at 5am I was wide awake and went out to try get my kitty back.

I had taken some food out before and I went down and called Ashar's name and he came running. He wasn't going to make it easy for me though so I went walking off in the oposite direction to see what he did. To my amazement he ran in the door and up the stairs. WOOHOO!!

So we spent the next couple of hours laying on the room floor having a massive love-In (Lots of fuss and cuddling) Of course I included Pica so they both know they are very loved cats.

Needless to say that DD and DS were over the moon when they got up to find Ashar curled up in the corner.

Losing another cat

I am so angry at myself for risking letting the cats out already. I thought they would be able to cope but it seems not. Ashar has decided that he doesn't want to come back inside at all. When we call his name he comes running and meowing his head off but then he stops short and runs off the other way. He keeps diving under parked cars (There is a car park for residents out the front) and when we try to slide in and get him he darts off under another car.

Pica is fine, he isn't bothered about going out, only to do his business. I don't know what to do as Ashar has been out there for 24hrs now and hasn't had any food.

I couldn't cope with losing him like we lost Jason

Pussy loves DT too

After watching LA without a map last night, I played it again this afternoon so I could screencap it.
I left the laptop in the corner playing the film while I worked on the main computer.
I happened to turn round and notice my cat Pica sat on the sofa looking over in the direction of the laptop. Sure enough he seemed to be watching the film. Of course I didn't have my camera handy and I thought by the time I got it, he would stop. Nope, I fetched my camera ands still his eyes were a-fixed on the film.
Guess what? no batteries, so I went and got some fresh batteries and still he didn't move his eyes away.

I took these pictures over the space of about half an hour.

Cats - They never get it.

Every morning as soon as I come downstairs, my 2 cats Pica and Ashar start running round like mad things.
I go into the kitchen and they are following me round and meowing their heads off.
I open the fridge and they are there looking up at me with their pleading eyes.
I go to the front room and they are there under my feet, I get up again and it's off to the kitchen they run.

Thing is, I never have any food in at that time of day. In fact I don't ever feed them in the morning until about 11am after I have been out to buy the food for them.
Still they never learn and to them everytime I go to the kitchen it must be feeding time.

I love them to death though and they get their food in the end.
